Access control systems

All buildings whether small, medium or large need to be protected. Traditional locks and keys have been securing properties since the 19th century however in today’s society more and more properties are becoming keyless enabling greater control over authorised access.

Electronic access control provides the most efficient and convenient way of securing a building. Installing an access control system means that you will never have to change a lock again. Fobs or swipe cards are issued to allow access through the controlled doors, and are easily barred from the system if they are lost, stolen or just not returned. Keypads are also a secure and cost effective way of allowing coded entry.

Access control can also offer flexible control over users access rights. For example, persons can gain access through the main door of a building, but access to internal areas may be restricted to those who have a specific need to be there. Access may also be restricted by time, only granting access to particular users at certain times of day or night. Some systems also allow the monitoring of authorised users recording data of when they enter and exit a building locally on site or remotely.

Access control equipment can be standalone or incorporated into a door entry system. Electronic locking can be configured in a fail secure or fail open format and locking options can be in the form of electronic releases, magnetic locks, sheer locks and deadlocking bolts. These can also be integrated into a fire alarm system which deactivates the locking in the event of a fire. The egress from doors incorporating the above is dependent on your requirements but free exit can be via an exit button or secure exit can be via additional access control equipment on the inside. In the event of an emergency a break glass unit/button can be installed to disable the electronic locking. An emergency fire access switch (drop key) can also be installed externally to communal entrance doors to provide access to emergency services.

Access control offers a secure, convenient, flexible and cost effective way of controlling who has access to your building and when that access is allowed. A range of the systems we offer are as follows:

  • Keypad access
  • Fob/swipe card access
  • PC based systems
  • Biometric readers

All of the above can be incorporated with the installation of a high security entrance door. For more information please visit our comprehensive high security door page.

We are able to install, maintain and repair existing systems including code changes, adding additional doors to your access control system, supplying and programming of additional access fobs/cards, the deletion of these and staff training on the correct management of the distribution of access fobs/cards.
